I found a canon eos rebel xt 8.0 mp for around $300 and was wondering if this was a pretty good deal or not and it comes with a 18-55mm lens as well.

Not really. That;s a camera from 2005, Unless you really know your stuff there's a significant chance you're buying a lemon. The first generation 18-55 lenses weren't that great either.
If that's the class you're interested in look for a nikon d50. Roughly equal in performance but at least you can get an accurate shutter count from it and the nikon 18-55 was a LOT better than the first canon 18-55.

We know about how old it is but how's it been treated? How's the lens been treated? Has it been beaten or roughed up? Wet? Has it been kept in a bag or case all the time when stored? What's the shutter count? Lots of questions.

it quite is a robust theory. i will enable you to comprehend one element... all Canon dslr cameras are very intense technical high quality. I very own 2 of their fashions and that i'm very pleased with the two yet do your guy or woman examine.
