I'm looking for a book about Carnival workers and performers of today. I've very interested in the culture and society that they have. The books I keep coming up with, though are all about Carnies in the 1920s when "big top" circus performance was just starting to boom.
I know it's a stretch, but does anyone know of any books (or even documentaries) on this subject?
Update:I'm sorry, my question used confused vocabulary. I'm looking for a book on contemporary circus performers. I just really like the word carnie and wish that i could use it here.
Fiction is NOT what I'm looking for. But thanks for trying.

Here is a list of sites on circus professionalism and education: http://www.bing.com/search?q=Circus+professionals&...
all i can think of is 'cirque du freak' by darren shan, though most of the book is not based at the circus and as the title suggests it is a freak show circus which is illegal (as far as i know) and it is a series of 12 books.but they are fiction and involve a lot of vampires.but the books with the most circus setting is book 1 (cirque du freak), book 2 (the vampire's assistant), and there is more in the other books too but i am not sure which they are.i do not know of any other circus books, my apologies.
