Me and my friend are trying to play AoE together on my computers. The problem is that none of the computers can ever find the other computer's game. We have turned off the firewall and everything but nothing seems to work. we got one game going where we got into it and started it and everything but the comp he was using had an error and closed out AoE. the weird thing is that we have played AoE on these computers before but can't seem to get it to work today. any ideas on what i can do to get them to find the games?
*Note - i am an idiot when it comes to computers, so if you could leave detailed instructions that would be much appreciated*

Age of Empires II multiplayer can be pretty flakey even with LAN games.
The easiest solution even when you're in the same house is to use GameRanger, which was designed to solve these problems.
GameRanger is a multiplayer online gaming service supporting over 500 games (including AoE2) that lets you play online in a friendly community without the hassles of network connection problems.
You can set up a private game on GameRanger so that you can play only with your friend, or allow others from the internet as well.
while you're working XP or Vista the firewall is maximum in all probability blockading it. verify your firewall settings and make confident it helps AOE. while you're working XP then the two desktops must be interior a similar community. in line with threat some extra information will make it much less stressful to respond to: What O/S are you working? Are the two comps interior a similar community? What firewall (if any) do you utilize?
