I'm almost 39 weeks pregnant and at about 3 this morning I was having bad back pain. Similar to my period getting ready to start. I've been dilated to 2cm for 2 weeks now. I would rate the back pain on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most painful, at about a 6, where other times it was about an 8, and others would be a 4. It's not frequent, the timing is too far apart. My mucus plug is still intact. And it's not painful enough in my opinion to head to the hospital (30 miles away). I was pregnant around this time 3 years ago, so I don't really remember what labor pains felt like. Are these real labor pains? Or just braxton hicks?

I am 36 weeks pregnant with my 3rd and have been using this website (http://www.webmd.com/baby/guide/true-false-labor) as a guide, as my first two children were 3 and 5 days late and I never really experienced "false" labor with them. Just regular old Braxton Hicks tightening without pain. I already went to L&D once last week to have contractions stopped and was 1cm as of this past Friday afternoon.
In my experience it sounds like you are experiencing real labor pain, not *just* BH, but not in active labor either. Just the annoying labor pains lol. Until they become regular or your water breaks, I would just keep an eye on things. Best of luck and congrats!
