So, I just performed extraction a while ago, I decided to do ASAN. My patient is healthy and is in good state. When I Aspirate, At first, there was no blood entered the cartridge, but when I was administering the anesthesia, I noticed that there is already blood in my cartridge! I already administered half a cartridge or about 0.9 ml of anethesia to the soft tissue. I was so worried, unttil now for my patient. Did I just administer the anesthesia intravascularly? Or the blood just came from the tissue while i'm penetrating it at first?? What are the effect if anesthesia was administered into the blood vessel? what are the different remedies?? by the way, the extraction was succesful, he did not feel any pain, 3 hours had past and Iasked him whenever he feel any pain, he said he was ok. The effects would be increased heart rate (if there was epinephrine in the anesthetic) and the need for a second dose because the patient wouldn't be numb (because the anesthetic was taken away quickly in the blood stream.
Since no pain was felt, the anesthesia worked. Since it worked, you can conclude that it was not injected into a vein or artery.
