I think you can get apprenticeships, but they have to come from the colleges or community colleges. Check with your head to get more information about the apprenticeships. He or she or a counselor will be able give you more information.
The definition of an apprenticeship is it a paid or free learn of certain jobs. For example, if one wanted to learn about how to be an employee in a wood shop, one would arrange within a
technical college or technical school to learn how to do that job by learning and training provided by a teacher, a carpenter, or a supervisor. Good luck. I was a college professor of education.
http://www.notgoingtouni.co.uk/apprenticeships-223 It is explained on this site. You can also have a look at the list of what you can do as an apprenticeship. Modern apprenticeships do include trades but you can also do apprenticeships in a wide variety of jobs these days.
An apprenticeship is training for a particular trade. Such as plumbing, carpentry, electrician etc. Most apprentices have 'on the job' training and also attend college to learn the finer points. Apprentices are not paid well but a certificate at the end of the period usually leads to a well paid job.
