Hi Guys,
As a career I want to become a commercial airline pilot. I am still at school and have started my GCSE course's, I am 15. Here are my questions....
What subjects should I pick for A-Level?
How would you go about setting out to become a commercial airline pilot?
Hoe long is the time frame from doing that first lesson, to flying for an airline?
I would really appreciate if any pilots out there could give me advice on these questions.
Thanks!

I am a Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor. The first step, assuming that you don't want to take the military route is to get you Private Pilots Certificate. This requires a minimum of 40 hours (most student pilots require more) and you must pass both a Knowledge Test (multiple choice) and a Practical Test (flight test). The next step is an Instrument Rating. This requires 40 hours of flight solely by reference to flight instruments (in the clouds or simulated using a view limiting device). Again you must then pass another Knowledge Test and Practical Test. The next step is your Commercial certificate which requires a minimum of 250 hours and another set of tests. In order to be hired by the airlines you will likely need to build many more additional hours and have experience flying larger twin engine turbine aircraft. It's a time consuming and expensive endeavor.
There is a video that will give you an idea of what it like to a fly a plane (and the radio communication involved) at FlywithB.com
For the GCSE "A" levels, think about Maths, Physics, Geography, English -
Then if you are rich - contact a flight academy -
Example is - http://oaa.con/ - the complete course takes 16-18 months -
Expect a tuition about £75,000 to 85,000 or more...
Then for the airlines, there will be 100 candidates for 25 openings -

You are verified for health now not fatness, nevertheless, the drawback isn't whilst you're a business pilot however while you begin coaching. I am additionally obese and the primary aircraft I flew as a pilot was once a Cessna a hundred and fifty. Shall we are saying that with the trainer it was once "comfortable". It did not fear me that we have been so near nevertheless it would fear a tender woman. The small coaching airplane have strict weight limits and in case you and your teacher exceed the ones limits you'll be pressured into flying a better airplane akin to a P28. This is fine however it is extra pricey. What others have mentioned approximately long term wellbeing problems nonetheless stands. Good success on your coaching.
Pilot lessons are very expensive, largely due to the cost of flight time. Most commercial pilots got their pilot training in the military. I'd start there if I were you. You could go and talk to a recruiter and see what classes to take in High School to give you a leg up.
Maths (no easy maths) English physics.. geography
A-levels in maths and physics are recommended.
