I have already asked a question on this but after learning more about it such as it belongs to the navy I want to ask can you apply to be a Commando through the Army even though it belongs mostly to the Navy (the combat roles) and must you serve a specific amount of time before you can apply?
And are there requirements academically for regular or officer?
Many Thanks

You need to go to the Navy recruitment office. The Marines is classed as the Navy's army, (the RAF has similar with the RAF regiment) have a look on their website as they will give you an indication of the fitness levels you need, you will probably find that there is no academic level needed for Marine, but officer's will need some qualifications, not always a degree, but they are helpful.
If you feel that the fitness is a bit above you're level, I'd suggest trying for the Parachute regiment. Only because if you fail basic training of the Marines, I think (don't quote me) then you're just binned and out, but if you fail the grade for fitness during training for the Para's, you can be transfered to another Infantry regiment. They can't do this ni the marines, as they are part of a different service, e.g. Navy, Army, RAF.
An navy commando is on attachment to the royal marines for that reason the Commando part. If so they'd have got to bring something to the social gathering for the royal marines to want them so they're very specialised. You additionally get royal navy commandos as good. I would not say one is best than the opposite, all of them perform a function and do a touch job which keeps us all secure and so they all deserve the identical admire. Additionally commandos were first an army thing, You must read the cockle shell heroes an mighty world warfare two raid.
The following Army units fall under the UKSF:
SAS
Special Reconnaissance Regiment
1st Battalion, The Parachute Regiment as part of the SFSG
