On Monday I burnt my finger on my hair straighteners. I left it a few hours, during which the skin over the burn split. When I got home from school I put ointment on it and then put a bandage on it. I took it off the next day. The burn looked like it was healing, so I left it uncovered. Yesterday, I accidentally caught my hand on something which took the skin off where it had split, making it into an open wound again. I put a band-aid on it. Today I took the band aid off, just to check how it was, and I noticed the area where the skin had split was puss-y. I washed it out and now have another bandage on it. Is this a sign of infection? Or is it normal for healing wounds to be pussy?
Thanks in advance,
Hannah.

It is a sign of infection, you should clean it regularly and keep it covered so it can't get any worse, it should be OK and nothing to worry about, but if it gets any worse you should go to a doctor
Sounds like the spot has become infected. You may need antibiotics to get that to heal up. I suggest going to the doctor, or emergency room.
Just keep it covered. It should be OK. You could always show it to your parents or school nurse.
pus does mean infection.
