California is the best life. I moved to California from Florida.
San Francisco/San Jose is better than LA
It depends on you and your definition of a "nice life".
If you think that a "nice life" is:
1. a cool weather, every morning is a city rush, a crowded place, an expensive way of living-- it would be New York (City).
2. warm climate, near beaches and coastlines, near hollywood, minimal or no snow at all, a little bit expensive and crowded-- California.
3. cold climate, silent living, peaceful life, no city rushes-- to the provinces of Canada!
4.British air, crowded, great buildings and architectural structures, a different accent-- London.

I think California is the best option.
One of my best friend is living there and very much happy with warm climate and friendly people of California.
