This has happened to me twice. With the same person.
First I was in my car around 400 miles from this person. I tried to call me Voicemail, and it was ringing which was odd to me. And then it she picked up. I was incredibly confused because my phone said Voicemail. I then hung-up and manually dialed my number and it went to her again. So, I drove for awhile and then tried again. And it was fine.
Then about 3 months later my dentist called for me and it was an incoming call on her phone, she didn't recognize the number, so she got the voicemail.
What is going on? Is there something I can do?
Update:I guess I should also mention that we have different service providers.

It's very unlikely for digital cell phone lines to cross; it's more likely for analog lines to cross. 400 miles is very far. Something is probably wrong at the cell phone switching headquarters.
Yes it happened to me. When my spouse was talking to her sister from US suddenly the call got disconnected and someone else's voice was heard. The voice of the other caller was not audible. She gave the cell phone to me I listed to that conversation and it got disconnected only after the party ended the call.
I would immediatly contact the cell phone provider and explain this irritating, horrible problem. This is unacceptable. They are obviously experiencing issues at their towers, or someone is actually dialing wrong.
