Can I be denied entry into Canada?

I am a UK citizen and am looking to visit a friend and take a holiday in Canada for 3 weeks. Big problem is. In 2008 I entered Canada on a work visa and stayed legally working until Feb 2011. Whilst living in Canada I opened a bank account and 2 visa card accounts. I left Canada and returned to the UK but still owed money on my Canadian accounts, the total owed is less than $2500 but it's still a debt. I am worried that this will affect my entry into Canada & I will be denied because of the unpaid debt.

Does anyone know if the the Canadian immigration will have records of this unpaid debt and bring it up.

BTW. I have set up an arrangement with all my creditors and am paying them slowly

Update:

Let me just make things a bit clear! My 3 year stay in Canada was completely legal. I had a work permit and left Canada once this ended. So I'll have no issues with immigration on that side.

I have contacted the Canadian immigration, but they cannot clear this up for me. They say it is unlikely to be an issue, but they cannot give me a yes or no.

I just don't want to fly all the way there to be denied entry.

I know it was a stupid thing to do, but I am in the process of fixing it.

I just want to see if there is anyone else who has done the same or similar thing.
