you wont lose your accent because you use both languages on a daily basis.... So when youre home you speak indian? so all the language tools you retain because of your first language an dyou used it everyday...
Then you try to speak english but you pronounce the words as if you were speaking indian... the only way to truely lose your accent is over time... and you have to try to pronounce words like americans exactly how they sound, but having an accend is beautifl why would you want to mask your heritage... dont be ashamed of it, i am romanian and i learned how to speak english as a 5 yearold... overtime the accent i had speaking english dissapeared.. because i did nothing but speak english for years.. now i have an accent in romanian because i rarely use romanian on a daily basis... im 25 now and i have no accent in either language because i practice both equally... and i had alot of time to speak both.. so just give it time and it will fade.
Yep! You sure can....if you want to work at it. I 'lost' my British accent in America for years (as a kid). I learned to talk like a cow-girl with a twang so that I could fit in and not be laughed at. (When in Rome do as the Romans do......that kind of thing). But I never forgot my accent. When I was older in America I pulled it back up... and used it. But now I'm back in Britain I speak like I did before with a Brit accent.
Naturally, you have an accent. Everybody does, even in the same family or culture. We are all individuals. Don't always listen to what friends say. ....carry on being yourself.
You won't lose your accent after 3 years when you have been speaking with your accent for 11 years.
Sure over time you will lose you accent. Although some phrases will always have a undertone of your old accent. Anyway, i personally wouldnt be in a hurry to lose it . It is a reminder of your culture which is a good thing.
Our accent is really different to lose. We can only improve it. Try to intimate from the Native speaker, then later you will find that YOuwill have some improvement. Best wishes.
Why would u want to lose your accent???
yeah you can lose it. i dont think it will go away fully, but it will go away a lot
Enjoy it. It's good to be different.
