(I posted this 20 minutes ago but it didn't appear on the question list, so let's try again!)
For anyone who has experience handling, riding, or training a Canadian horse, what are your experiences with them?
Do you find that they had a great personality, but along the line somewhere, they tend to have a stubborn streak? or is it just my horse?
My friend has a Canadian x Paint, and he was this way too. my Canadian seems to be frustrated with having to work hard so he hops a bit when you ask him to canter. he's getting the hang of things better now.
I read that they can be a bit stubborn but are, for the most part, willing to please.
Update:I see that same attitude in my Canadian also! They're very willing horses. With mine I think I just have to get through his thick skull :) Thanks, they both sound outstanding.

We have a Canadian cross mare and her son, who is three Quarters Canadian. On the contrary, I don't find them to be all that stubborn. Of course, since these two are related, they may not be the best horses to judge on. However, they are what really made me fall in love with Canadian horses. The mare is a little harder than her son to work with, but she was abused and has not been worked with much so that's why. However, she is still the first one over in the field and always hangs around. You can just see that she's dying to go for a ride. And she is generally just a nice horse. She's a little too dominant for my taste, but to people, she's so nice.
Her son is the one horse out of all of ours (eleven) that people ALWAYs love. I have not yet found someone, who isn't a family member, who doesn't have Fonda as their favourite. He is the nicest horse I have ever met. He follows you everywhere and just needs to stand beside you. He has honestly never laid his ears back or gotten frustrated with a human. He was a little bit difficult to train to lead, but after that he's been so easy. We recently started training him to saddle and so far, we've had no problems. He's not scared, he just doesn't know what's going on. So in my experience, Canadians are amazing horses with great minds and attitudes. Ours aren't that stubborn, but I'm sure they are. Our two are definitely willing to please.
As a Canadian I can reply the query. Sorry, the mounties do not (did not) experience Canadian horses, no less than now not completely. The Mounties rode any black horse of the correct top and temperment, Quarter horses, thoroughbreds and grades had been very normal. (We're talking of the RCMP installed rides, I'm assuming now not the well historical days whilst Mounties rode any horse they would!) You already obtained a tremendous web page at the breed origions and outlines, so I would possibly not attempt to upload to that. I'll simply say that they're a infrequent breed, even right here in Canada. If you had been to look one, you would suppose they had been a Morgan with a fairly heavier construct. They have the upright and cresty neck like a Morgan, a relatively thick frame, powerful legs, more commonly black in colour without a or very minimum white markings. They are mainly proven with a protracted flowing mane and most of the time they don't have their fetlocks trimmed (that's the simplest manner for me to inform them aside from a Morgan to start with look!) My historical four-H chief raised Canadians and used them for aggressive using for fairly a couple of years, that's in which my enjoy with them comes. They are used for driving, and honestly many can bounce relatively good, however their major use is for mild using both as singles or doubles. I suspect their ought to be a internet site for the Canadian horse, probably do a google seek and notice what you discover.
