I bought the 1998 Chevy Blazer used about 2 years ago. You always kind of needed to slam the driver door shut for it close to where the exterior was flush with the rear passenger door. About two months ago, you could still get it flush but you could run your finger in between the car frame and the frame of the door. Well, now, no matter how hard anyone tries to close it from the outside or inside there's about an inch gap between the car and door where you can look out and see the pretty sky. Twice, with enough force, we were able to get it flushed close, but as soon as I leaned against it at all, it flew open. Basically, whether I mess with it locked or unlocked, the door won't catch. I've checked to see if there is anything stuck around the edges that's preventing it from closing and it doesn't appear so.

bent hinges, or worn out hinge pins can cause the door to sag and not allow the latch mechanism mounted in the door to align with the pin mounted on the door frame. Fix as needed
The hinges on your door are possibly bent, go to your neerest parts supplier and get new ones.
