College Search: UC Santa Barbara or Emerson Collge?
I'm applying to both of these schools because I haven't found many other schools that pique my interest. Which one is better? Academically and socially.
They are both really different schools. Emerson is very, very artsy, and very, very expensive. UCSB is a larger school where you will find enclaves of artsy people. Do you live in California? If so, you will save a TON of money going to a UC., if that's an issue. Academically, they're both good schools.
Suggestions: Do a college finder on PrincetonReview.com. IT will help you come up with a list of schools you'd be happy at. Ideally, you should have at least 6--a variety of reaches (schools you have a small chance of getting into), matches (schools where your profile--test scores, extra-curriculars, grades, etc.--are on par with others who are accepted), and safeties (schools where you aren't guaranteed admissions, but where your profile will be very impressive to admissions counselors).
There are many schools that you can thrive at--if you're looking for a small, artsy liberal arts school, try Grinnell or Oberlin.
