How do I use the construction: Verb stem + neba?

I saw my friend write this:

豆腐を食べねば

And I'm not quite sure what he's trying to say.

ねば=ねばならない / せねばならない / （を）しなければならない: should (do)

verb + ねば = should do...

豆腐を食べねば

I/We/You should have natto (more).

p.s. 納豆は糸を引いてネバネバするので､一口で食べねばならない。

Nattou threads so stickily that you have to have it at one bite. ネバネバ has nothing to do with ねば, though.
