COMPAQ PRESARIO 2100 won't connect to Internet. HELP!!!?
I got a compaq presario 2100. The internet was working on it until i updated to service pack 2 for xp. I restart after the service pack install and everything connect and I pinged everything and it got connection it just wont let me on the internet and I have repaired the connection and it has great connection just won't let me browse the net it just gives me the connection error on Internet Explorer. Any help would be great. Thanks

Try this: In Internet Explorer, go to "Tools". > Then "Internet Options" > Click on the "Connections" tab. > Then click on the "LAN Settings" button. Make sure the first box under "Proxy Server" is UN checked. It's the box that says "Use a proxy server etc., etc..." I know it's a short answer, but from what you're describing that's the first thing I'd do. If that box WAS checked, you may also want to run a quick scan using the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware ( http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ). That's usually a setting that "rogue" anti virus programs change.
