Compliments?
I tend to attract people, predominantly guy-people, who like to shower me with compliments. I don't know why. It makes me vastly uncomfortable. How can I stop this from happening, or at least lessen the effects of my being embarrassed by the attention?

Just smile and say thanks. Train your brain to allow the compliments and eventually you won't feel so "girly" inside.
They are either trying to get to know you better (maybe much better) ,or they might feel that you lack self confidence? Where do they look at you when they talk to you ? Eye's or elsewhere? Either way they have an interest in you , take it as a nice gesture and simply say "thank you " and move on.
why be embarrassed? just say thank you and move on.
