I need step by step directions for my version of Paint Shop to desaturate a photo and bring color back to a specific area. I have done this in the past using layers and then erasing the layer to bring the color from underneath, but I can't remeber how to do it. I have searched youtube and the corel site for a tutorial and am not having any luck for the version of Paint Shop I'm using. Help!!
Update:Thank you! I'll try that tonight- do I need to merge the layers before erasing?

-Open your color image
-Make a duplicate layer
(Layers>duplicate)
-Desaturate the top layer
(Adjust>>Hue & Saturation>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness....
Move the Hue slider down to -100)
-Use the Eraser Tool on the areas you want color.
(your desatuated layer is on top & your original image is your bottom layer.
Using the eraser on your top layer will reveal the color on your bottom layer)

Another easy way to do this is:
-Open your color image.
-Select the areas you want to keep color in using either the magic wand or lasso.
-Invert your selection...so everything you don't want color is now your selection.
(Selections>>Invert)
-Desaturate your selection
(Adjust>>Hue & Saturation>>Hue/Saturation/Lightness....
Move the Hue slider down to -100)
To make the edges of your colored area blend with your B&W areas you
may want to feather your selection before desaturating:
(Selections>>Modify>>Feather)
You can also use your Smudge and/or Soften brushes to touch up areas
so that they blend better.
Hope this helps!
