Okay guys and girls, I need a computer (obviously)...what I'm looking for is something I can take to college, I am majoring in computer programming (mostly game programming), I'm thinking imma need good graphics (considering I also have a game developing team which right now works off another friends laptop and we are hoping to also use mine once I get it XD ), I am also a musician and would like to record...
So please help me, what exactly will I need? And if you can please explain what each part does so that if I do get a computer later in the future I can apply what I have learned from this than.
Thank you!!

Well I'm a programmer too and also will be getting into game programming. For programming you want something all around good. I'm not sure what kind of graphics your doing but the chances are your going to need a decent video card. For me I like speed and power and I am usually running 5 to 10 programs at once while programming and most of those programs are helping me program. So for game programming you probably want a fast system so get something with a decent amount of RAM and a system with a quad core processor. Your going to have a lot of files and data so your going to need a big hard drive. Also if your a musician you would most likely want a good sound card too.
I recommend either Alienware or IBuyPower which are very power computers.
Also I recommend learn more about computer hardware because game programming deals with the hardware of the computer more than most other types of programming besides system programming. I you have any questions just send me a message.
Programming is text - you do not need "good graphics" - not any better than anyone else needs. For gaming it's different - you need the best GPU you can afford (or a cheap one every 6-12 months).
I'd look at ASUS or Gateway for price/performance. At least 8GB of RAM. At least a 1TB drive (preferably NOT WD). Add the best graphics card you can afford (a 5970 would be nice) and a PSU if the one it comes with isn't enough for the GPU.
Look at HP Envy - lots of screen space, lots of RAM, big hard disk, but external DVD drive to allow it to be really thin
