What are the rules with using a card that requires a "Dark Magician" on the field, and using them, if allowed, with Dark Magician Girl(DMG)..
For example, Dark Magic Attack requires a "Dark Magician" on the field.. is DMG enough? I ask because obviously Dark Magician is in her name.. If not what about if Dark Paladin(the fusion of Dark Magician and Buster Blader)? He doesnt have Dark Magician in his name but he IS one fusion-material-wise...
I know its a stretch, but do these cards HAVE to be used with the one and only Dark Magician monster??
other cards include: Dark Magic Curtain, Thousand Knives,
other monsters: Skilled Dark Magician, Dark Magician of Chaos..

Alright, I can explain this...
If the card requires a DARK MAGICIAN card, it MUST be dark magician. Dark Magician Girl and Dark Paladin won't work. BUT if the card says a monster with dark magician in it's name, then you can use Dark Magician Girl, but Dark Paladin still wouldn't work.
Well, I hope I've answered your question.. And....
HAPPY DUELING! :D
dark magician is a horrible card, it was never good in the first place, summoned skull was better when it was first release, if your gonna do 2 tribute, you might as well used blue eyes, beside being outdated, it has no effect, other than a deck focusing on summoning dark magician, its useless
Yes, it needs the dark magician itself since the card says so. It doesn't say "or a card that needs dark magician to be be summoned." or "another card with dark magician in it's name."
you HAVE to have d.m. or it will technically not even be of any use. i kinda remember in one of the YU-GI-OH episodes were he does the dark magic attack with D.M., D.M.G., and D.Paladin all together. but you best bet would be to just use D.M.
