With one god, deism, if god is out or indisposed, you are pretty much screwed if you need an immediate miracle or savior. polydeism, or multi-gods, gives you a few options so far as god is concerned. if your favorite god is out when you are about to be eaten by a lion, you can call on number two to pinch hit. you don't have to die. also, if your favorite god does not like interracial marriages, and you have a black girl friend, you can call on another god who might be more amicable to your situation until your jungle fever has passed.

Deism = A belief that there is a god who once created the world, but has now "retired", and is no longer interfering with his creation in any way. (Theism "light", sort of..)

Polydeism = Hmmmm.. I have heard of polytheism, but never polydeism. I guess polydeists are people who believe in many deist gods? That the world was created by SEVERAL of those gods, but today none of them are interfering. (Just a guess.)

As I understand it, Deism is the idea that the universe was created by a god or super being of some sort, but only did that. This being either ceased to exist or decided to nothing to do with us.

Theism is the belief in a higher power. Polytheism is the same thing but that there are multiple higher powers.

Christianity = Theism

Pagans = Polytheism.

Both refer to the former existence of a God who created everything then left us to our own devices. Poly means more than one.

'Polydeism' is the belief in caring Gods.

Poly means 'more than one'.

'Deism' need NOT mean 'belief in one God', however. It is not specific about the number.
