Besides maneuverability, there's no reason to buy a laptop over a desktop. Batteries seem to crap out quickly on laptops, so expect to replace those every once in a while.

Desktop-

Pros: Don't need to charge, can do anything, for office,

Cons: Cannot take it with you

Laptop-

Pros:Can take it anywhere, same advantages with desktop.

Cons:You need to charge it.
