Thanks. just a few differences and a few similarities.
Similarities: Neither one was a colony.
Differences: Jamestown was a settlement in the Colony of Virginia. Philadelphia was a planned city on the Colony of Pennsylvania.
Differences: People in Jamestown ate their dead. People in Philadelphia ate cheese steak sandwiches.
I took an economic history course earlier this semester, so i can help you out on the economic side.
Philadelphia, PA was located in the so called "middle colonies" region
Middle Colonies:
- had 'mixed' family farms [ mixed farms = land uses mixed between arable (cultivation of crops) & pastoral (grazing of livestock)] and waged labor
- named the "bread basket," meaning that there were commercially successful in wheat
- they mostly sold to other colonies, Caribbean, and some to the UK
Jamestown, VA was in the Upper South Region (a.k.a. Chesapeake):
-had plantations in tidewater areas, indentured servants & slaves for labor
- mainly had Tobacco as their principal cash crop [ sold tobacco to make their money]
- they had an export driven economy [to make money], sold to the UK
