I want to get a Jessner Peel soon for my acne, acne scarring, and hyperpigmentation. I've read that the peel may sting at bit, but I just don't want it to be really painful. Any advice, reviews, etc. would be great. Thanks.

Everything depends on how sensitive and how thick your skin is. If you are pretty dark skinned, it won't hurt as much...but at the same time, you want it to hurt. the more it hurts, the deeper it is penetrating. so it is recommended to use cleansers on a daily basis that contain salicylic acid (strongest hydroxy acid) and definitely exfoliate 3x week. i use my clarisonic every day with my salicylic wash.
all in all...yes it does hurt, but you don't have to leave it on very long...it also depends on how many layers they put on..how ever many layers you can handle. A good physician/esthetician will look at your skin and adjust how strong of a treatment you will need.
the results are amazing! even after 1 treatment..to me..i have really sensitive skin so it feels like my face is on fire. that is also because i use hydroxy acids every day on my skin along with my clarisonic. that is the strength that i like... to penetrate deeper for my scarring as well. But I am an esthetician...i was taught in school to wax every week and get laser treatments done all the time. Pain is just part of the industry. if you want results, you have to get the peel done...or laser treatments done. mederma or any scar cream may not be as effective and will take a lot longer to see what you want to see which can be frustrating and easy to give up. you will feel more confident when the treatments are over.
you could always see if they will only do the treatment on the small areas you want done so they can do more layers. it won't be as bad and you could probly stand to do more layers. hope this helped
