Does prostrate surgery ever cause loss of bowel control?
My uncle had prostrate surgery and now he cannot control his urine or bowels. I knew it could cause incontinence, but I never heard of it causing loss of bowel control.
It can cause bowel problems. Thankfully for most men it is relatively rare. It can cause constipation or diarrhea. Some men have this problem in the months immediately following surgery. If it lasts longer than 7 or 8 weeks he should make an appointment and see his urologist If the problem is severe then don't wait. See the doctor as soon as possible.
