Anti-depressants arent designed to be some kind of magic happy pill cures, but to lift your mood enough to help you to do the rest of the work needed to get out of your depression by yourself.
I take Prozac (40mg) and did notice a slight lift in my mood as soon as during the first week. Im by far fully better though, and need to learn coping mechanisms to live with my depression. Research shows that a persons most likely to recover from depression if they have a combination of medication and some kind of talking therapy rather than just medication.
