I was searching around for jobs in my area and I came across a post on monster which had rather odd requirements and was wondering if they are breaking any types of laws with the requirement below.
- Qualifications:
- Must be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, currently Temple worthy

Update:I was just mainly curious as to the law worked. I seen this and it seemed like it would be illegal but was not really sure.

"The Church is looking for a skilled Software Engineer with a strong passion for public facing web and content application development. "
Normally it is discrimination to require religious membership for a job opening. However, churches are exempt from this, and may choose to only hire people who's personal beliefs are in line with whatever they want.
It relies upon on the job. diverse jobs and employers have diverse standards. "equivalent threat company" many times ability the corporate does no longer discriminate according to issues like epidermis colour, intercourse, or nationality - issues you may no longer administration. there could be a valid clarification for denying employment to a dishonorably discharged veteran.
There's nothing illegal about it at all. The church only wants to hire people that they can be sure have good and high moral standards.
its definitely discrimination. and most places say they don't discriminate. check in the fine print of MONSTER. see if it mentions anything about it. otherwise,I would think just by them saying that, why would you care. you don't really want to work there anyway, do you? I mean what kind of christmas parties or company picnic's would they be throwing anyway ha ha just kidding.
