Zelda is more of an Action Adventure, and Final Fantasy is more of an RPG,

so it depends on what kind of game you like more...

Final fantasy 10, and 13 are amazing I have not played Zelda but I am more of an RPG person.

Personally I like Zelda. I haven't had as much experience with final fantasy, but what i've played they're very good games. I just like Zelda better. Which version of both games are you looking at buying?

If you want a long game, then get Final Fantasy.

I personally think Zelda games are better than the Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy haven't been fun since FFIX. X, X-2, XII, XIII just aren't that much fun.
