Ihave a few questions about goldfish that I might get. I did some research online about them but I just wanna make sure.
1. Is this tank good for 2-3 fancy goldfish? SeaClear Rectangular 50 Gallon Aquarium Combos http://www.petco.com/product/110209/SeaClear-Recta...
2. Will I have to upgrade the tank later on or can I just stick with this one?( I'm assuming 2 fancies could stay in that tAnk and needn't an upgrade while 3 fancies I might have to upgrade?)
3. Where is the best place to buy healthy goldfish that hasn't already been growth stunted?(online maybe?)
4.how many fancies can I put in that tank without having to upgrade later on?
5. If I do buy from a fish store, how will I be able to tell which one is healthy and hasn't already been stunted?
6. I've read that fancies r as big as comets. Will telescope, oranda, dragon eye be ok?
7. Are skinny ones better than big ones? I've read that the big ones might already have some disease or something.
Thanks!

1. Yes, it would be perfect. The rule is no less than 20 gallons for one, 10 gallons for every other. So, three need a 40 gallon tank or bigger.
2. No. You can just keep that tank. Even with three you will be alright, but four is pushing it a little too far.
3. I'd try to find a breeder online. Look for someone that sells pure goldfish, not mixed ones.
4. No more than 3 fanicies.
5. If you go to a store, look for the brightest colored goldfish with no fin rips or ragged edges, and are swimming well.
6. Fancies usually stay around 8 inches long, but it's not uncommon for them to reach 12 inches.
7. Look for a medium between skinny and fat. You don't want one that appears to be starving, nor do you want one that's very large.
It's best to cycle the tank before you get goldfish. Cycle the tank to handle 4ppm of ammonia. To do that, follow this guide; http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f15/the-almos... . Your goldfish will be much healthier if you can make the tank able to handle the excess amount of waste goldfish produce. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f15/the-almos... .
Interesting questions! ~ I believe your tank is MORE than sufficient for your needs now, as well as in the future. I have one goldfish, who is 7 years old, and lives contentedly in a small 1 gallon tank. My granddaughter won this little guy at a halloween carnival back in 2006, and he is very healthy! I think that stunting can be avoided by purchasing very young fish.. and I also believe that any reputable pet shop would carry healthy fish. (google reviews of your local pet shops for help selecting the right shop to patronize). I would avoid pet sections at Walmart, etc., though.
