A neighbor's house that doesn't have someone looking for presents ( don't want another child finding your son's gifts ). Or a family member that doesn't mind making a mid-night "santa run". Hide a few small things for your son to find: clothes such as socks, underwear, t-shirts, etc. Also, Wrap them and place an Aunts or cousins name on them and place under the tree.
Locked in an old trunk, suitcase, cedar chest, anything out of the way and something you can lock.
