I am SICK of vampires & werewolves. I want to shout at YA authors 'GIVE ME SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR GODS SAKE!' lol, i'm sorry, over reaction. Nonetheless, good teen fiction, out of the casual ordinary but NO werewolves or vampires under any circumstance. For me, even at 15, I tend to restrict myself to the really classy adult fiction and of course I love/hate the classics, so when I actually read for my own age group it's a fun, guilty little splurge. Give me a book really worth my time. Impress me. thanks guys :)
oh and my recommendation for all of YOU guys is a book coming out soon in the US that sounds uber interesting. It's called Halo, about a girl--an angel-- sent to earth to protect it for some reason elaborated on in the book, but she slips up, and falls in love with a mortal boy. Whoops. lol :) just a little tipper and my thanks for the recommendations you guys will give ;)
again, thank you!!!

try a certain slant of light. its a very good book, here's a small summary
In the class of the high school English teacher she has been haunting, Helen feels them: For the first time in 130 years, human eyes are looking at her. They belong to a boy, a boy who has not seemed remarkable until now. And Helen--terrified, but intrigued--is drawn to him. The fact that he is in a body and she is not presents this unlikely couple with their first challenge. But as the lovers struggle to find a way to be together, they begin to discover the secrets of their former lives and of the young people they come to possess.

I suggest Mortal Coils by Eric Nylund. I'm reading the second book in the series right now (it just came out). It's a really good series, however, though the main characters might be teens, the story is a bit twisted and a bit gory. Still good though. :-)
There is a similar book to the one you recommended. It's called Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, except the roles are reversed, and the plot is different. Has romance too.
Magic in Manhattan series by Sarah Mlynowksi...it`s hilarious!
Thirteen Reasons Why (favorite book ever...it doesn`t really fit in this category, though)
Jinx by Meg Cabot
The Mediator series by Meg Cabot
Fallen by Lauren Kate
Silver is for Secrets by Laurie Faria Stolarz
And I heard that Charmed & Dangerous and the sequel Charmed & Ready, both by Candace Havens, are really good.
And Beautiful Creatures, like the above person said. Awesome book :D
There is a YA writer named Christopher Pike that I used to read all the time. I am an avid reader and pretty much passed up all teen books at that age, so reading his books was my own guilty pleasure. He has books in series as well as stand alones. You should check him out.
The devouring, by Simon Holt, if your into horror
otherwise, Beautiful Creature, by Kami Garcia; The Forest of Hands and Teeth, by Carrie Ryan; or City of Bones( and City of Ashes and City of Glass) by Cassandra Clare. I know City of bones sounds wierd, but it's actually good.
And if you like adult book, try The Passage, by Justin Cronin, it's about vampires, but it's wayyy different than most vampire books.
The Gemma Doyle trilogy is good, definitely different..not my favorite book ever, but favorite in that category
i was never a big reader but check what age the "roswell high" series is for. I enjoyed this thoroughly when i was younger, but i forget exactly how old i was. it might be too young for you.
