This afternoon I had a nap and when I started to wake up it was like my whole body was paralyzed and I couldn't move, or even try to talk! I kept thinking to myself that it was okay and I was just dreaming, but somehow I was aware of my surroundings even though my body wasn't awake yet. I couldn't move a muscle even though I tried and my eyes wouldn't open all the way. This has happened to me twice before and the last time a couple weeks ago. How do I avoid this from happening? I'm not crazy I am just an ordinary 23 year old who needs advice! Thanks for reading and only helpful answers please

Sleep paralysis is normal. It is the bodies way of protecting itself while your mind is asleep.
what you are experiencing is a type of anxiety attack. Just try to sit up, breathe, and then calm down.
Ive heard tell this to be paranormal. I cant answer to that, although I do believe in ghosts.
My grandfather used to get them, and he believed it was medical.
Likely, it is anxiety, urged on by chemicals. Do you drink, or use illegal, or legal, depressants? If so, wean off of them.
Haha that happend to me last night I was like thinking about stuff while falling asleep and then I couldn't open my eyes all the way and it felt like someone was laying on me but anyway I searched it to and its normal it is when your body shuts off for sleep but you are still aware that your awake so that happens when your mind is still running
I have and I really hate it when it happens I feel like I can't breathe and go all panicky. I try to concentrate on trying to roll off the bed I kno it sounds daft but my bed is really low so its not that much of a drop. Anyway that's wen I kno its all over wen im on the floor. lol
No but I really want to experience it to see what it's like. None of that cool stuff ever happens to me!! ;(((((
"Has anyone experienced sleep paralysis?" No, not everybody will EXPERIENCE it. 99% of people will GET it, however, and every single night.
I think it's normal. It has happened to me several times.
