The problem with the Convention Center area is that there are very few hotels in the area. Your choices are limited if you want to stay in the area. Downtown is rather funky, but hardly fun. Hotels in the area include:Holiday Inn City CenterHilton CheckersWestin Bonaventure (an LA landmark)If you want fun and funky, I think that you should try the Renaissance hotel at the Hollywood & highland complex.
