I was trying to figure out a way to fix my windows XP. I can't do a system restore, it tells me it has caused an error and needs to close. When I turn off my computer and turn it back on, it says "Windows cannot start because a file is missing. Please reinstall a copy of this file." I searched on the internet and found a way to repair my windows WITHOUT deleting everything on my hard drive. But when I put my windows XP cd in to boot it from there and start the repair, it just starts windows for me. But when my computer is running, it is seriously slow, and has many problems. I know it's with my windows because when I am on the internet, I have no problems. It's just with stuff on my desktop. I am trying to do this:

With that many problems, I would suggest you do a format and reinstall windows. If you have an external hard drive or DVD burner, you can save your data and just reload it once you do the reinstall of Windows XP.
go into the bios and change the boot order. It is just loading windows because it isn't looking for a cd to boot off of. You have to make sure that the cd drive is the first thing it looks for when it starts.
