If you have a Windows system you can use the Offline NT Password tool from the site below. You will have to download the ISO and then create a CD using a tool like DeepBurner. Then you boot from the CD you created and you can delete the Administrator password. Once you remove the CD and reboot the computer you can login to the administrator account with no password. Then set whatever password you want.
I am assuming it is Windows XP. Did you have the CAPS Lock key on when you reset it? Try entering the same password with the CAPS lock on. Do you have any other accounts setup on the PC that you can log into? Otherwise you are going to need to hack the password with some sort of recovery disk. It is a simple procedure for someone that is fairly tech savvy.
Did you check to see if your caps log was on? Are you sure you typed it correctly. I did some research and came up with some help for you (I hope). Please read his disclaimer carefully and understand what he's writing.

You must be using the wrong new password.
If it`s XP start up in safe mode (F8)
Log in as administrator (no password needed)
Control panel - user accounts - remove password.

Depends on the Operating System.
If Windows XP:
At the login screen press CTRL + ALT + DEL, three times. At the old school login screen, for the User type: Administrator
pass: (leave blank).
This is assuming the hidden system admin account has not been turned off (it is on by default)
