Anemia runs in my family (thanks for telling me today, Mom). For years, I have experienced easy tiredness/fatigue, rapid heart beat, headaches, difficulty paying attention to anything, and leg cramps, especially when I wake up in the morning. I did a search and I found all of these symptoms to be common with anemia, and then I went to the doctors today.
I went to the doctor and he said I have "iron deficiency anemia". He didn't prescribe medicine, and said I can treat this myself. Obviously, I have to consume more iron. But which foods are high in iron? Is there any over-the-counter medicine I could take? Is there any other way to raise my iron?

My mom has that too!
So what she took to treat it, were these iron vitamins. They were red circular pills, that needed no prescription. A normal vitamin like Centrum could also work. Foods that have lots of iron are beef, beets, apples, broccoli, pomegranates( my doctor told me to drink lots of that, cuz i have low blood too), and You know, lots of milk, veggies, all the healthy stuff. Be sure to drink lots of water too. Good luck! :)
I have anemia. I have tried eating food that is high in iron but sometimes it seems not effective to cure my anemia of difficult in breathing. Now I take a home remedy method - taking cold water baths. According to some findings, anemia patient should be given a cold bath carefully twice daily, the coldness of the water being increased gradually. I also take banana before breakfast as banana help in my case too. Hope these may help in your cae.
Go to the pharmacy/ chemist and ask for iron supplement for yourself.
one important thing to note is that our bodies natural have trouble absorbing iron by it's self. one thing that helps is vitamin C. pair foods rich in iron with foods high in Vitamin C, like always take the iron supplement with orange juice.
I don't know if there is prescription medication for iron deficiency.
You can purchase iron pills over the counter in the pharmacy area where the vitamins are.
Slow Fe is good to use.
Just how many of these berry or vegetable questions will we see immediately?
Red meat, dark green vegetables, beans, liver, eggs, red wine and stout (Guinness) all contain iron. You can get supplements but they can cause side effects such as constipation
