Converting video on Mac I use this DVD Converter Suite for Mac. It converts between all popular formats and works great.

Usually it depends upon the format u r using.
Generally avi or mp3 videos can be compressed by converting them to other formats like flv,3gp,etc.
However it results in some loss of picture quality,which may or may not be a factor.
Note: ZIP may not be of any use as the videos are already compressed by the respective codecs.
It is sure that the quality of video will be affected if you compress it.
I use a video converter that can compress the video by adjusting the frame.
