My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite 675 and according to Toshiba it has a RGB, not VGA connection. My TV is an Insignia NS-P42Q-10A. I have tried everything the websites suggest. I don't understand how the converters I have seen connect to laptop? More cables?

I do have a VGA to HDMI cable and have tried everything, ad projector changing resolutions, shutting both down and connecting. Maybe I have a defective cable? I get "This source is not connected. Please check connection again" Very frustrating.
