This is my idea, I making a small bridge made out of paper and will test how many nickels it takes to make the bridge fall. Each time the bridge falls, I will increase the thickness of it (adding more paper). My IV is thickness of paper, DV is # of nickels needed to sink bridge, and what would my control group be? And also please explain to me how to find it in most experiments. Thanks

It look as though you have two changing variables and no constant variable here. If you are looking to plot the points on a graph and depict the strength of the bridge as the thickness of paper is increased, then you would not need a control.
However, if you were using two separate bridges each with only one piece of paper, but one of them had a certain chemical applied to it, then the one without the applied substance would be the control.
