First, I refurbish laptops to resell on eBay, so there is some credibility on the answer, lol.

Considering that this model laptop was released on 3/31/03 and most new laptops at that time only had CD-RW/DVD Combo drives or just a plain CD-ROM drive. So about a 99% chance that it does NOT have a DVD burner. A couple of ways to tell look at the side of the laptop and if it does not say DVD-RW then it probably cannot burn DVDs. Another way to check this out is by going to the hardware profiles on your laptop. Steps on how to do that are below.

Click the Start button

Click on Control Panel

Click Performance and Maintenance

Click System

Select the Hardware tab

Select Device Manager

You should see ALL hardware items installed on your computer. You will see the one item that shows DVD-ROM or CD-ROM or CD-RW or DVD-RW or a combination of any of these. There should be a plus beside it, click the plus. This will pull up ALL optical drives on your laptop. If this does not say DVD-RW then it will not burn DVDs.

You can purchase DVD burners off ebay for this model laptop for around $40-60. They are not hard at all to install. I have owned about 12 of this model laptop and have replaced the drives on a couple of them.

you probably only have a dvd-rom which only plays dvd's. it doesn't burn them. if you had a burner it would say dvd-rw/cd-rw

you can goto the pc maker's site and lookup your pc and see if it has a burner. or use the manual.

look at the instructions and it will say if cd burner or not?
