A septic tank needs to be large enough for the whole building not individual apartments within the building. Of course this depends on your location too. Plastic tanks are not even used here because they have too many problems with holes. Cement ones are the only ones used here. The plastic tanks are used for trickle systems used with wells. All you need to do is call your local inspector and ask the code requirements.
Hello. Ha Ha to all the other posts... The answer would be yes you could use a 200 gallon septic for a studio if you are in the country, but of course you would have to check with your local plumbing codes to make sure.
You could even use Two 50 gallon drums. A gentleman that I know actually uses this at his home for a family of two.
Probably good enough for one person, 2 days a week. I believe there is code on this requirement and the minimum is more than likely 500 gal. Some have a 1,000 gal tank. Also, I don't know if plastic is acceptable. Your best bet is to check your local code requirements. The installation has to be inspected as well with proof of soil test, the drain line at a certain pitch and venting. Good Luck!

I personally have not known of a 200 gallon septic, I have heard of a 300 gallon.
Heads up though if you are using a septic tank in a city environment that has to pumped, the smaller the septic the more you will need it pumped out.
Good Luck!
