So i recently obtained a computer that seemed in good order (for being picked up off the street, haha)
nice GPU, nice sound card, decent processor/ram, good dvd r/w drive, card reader, but missing a hard drive.
anyway, i was wondering why they were throwing it out, so i plugged it in to see if it worked.
the psu was a little older, it has no on/off switch, so when i plugged it in, it took in power (lights around me dimmed, obvious sign the transistors worked) but nada.
no fans spinning, nothing. tried tower on button, but nothing. The motherboard light is on, so idk if its the motherboard.
Im assuming its the psu? i mean, if no fans at all spin, im assuming its dead....right?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Update:****I ment the button on the computer tower

"Im assuming its the psu? i mean, if no fans at all spin, im assuming its dead....right?" - That is where I would start. Replace the PSU and see what happens. If the computer then posts, you are good to install a hard drive and operating system.
