I was worried when a friend from church pointed out this verse to me:
Exodus 22:18 Good News version
Put to death any woman who practices magic.
I am afraid this wasn't such Good news for me. I can change profession and still be in God's good books or do you think the damage is already done?
Update:Certainly I try to influence the belief of children, I try to make them believe I have the ball in one hand and not the other. That is what magic is all about.
Update 3:Brandon you also have the advantage of being male. The statement here is only made against women.

I really like this question because I used to have the same dilemma. I don't call what I do magic and I never claim that it is. What I do is illusion and slight of hand. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines magic as "the use of means (as charms or spells) believed to have supernatural power over natural forces". In saying that you do illusion's and slight of hand you are openly admitting that nothing you are doing is supernatural. You will still have christians claim that it is wrong but after this it is between you and God. I personally believe as long as you don't claim to be doing anything supernatural you are not doing anything wrong.
We encourage you to find another line of work. Magic accesses the kingdom of darkness and bad things you don't want to expose kids to. God still loves you. Making a mistake doesn't change that. Now that you're aware of the issue, though, He does hold you accountable, so stop the magic and move on to something spiritually safe.
Do you try to influence the beliefs of children with what you do? I think this verse is specific to spell casters, soothsayers, etc.
I think you know what beliefs I am talking about. Sound more and more like you're trolling.
Magicians are illusionists, they don´t use magic.
