Okay so i have a laptop i got passed down from a relation and it must be at least 5-6 years old now and its having so horrible performance issues. It has a single core 1.86Ghz processor which is horrible by todays standards and i was just wondering could this be the cause of the problem? I can watch a youtube video for about 5mins max before the fps drops until it is unwatchable. It also has this problem where the keyboard cuts out for no reason and the track pad works maybe once a month which is completely random.
If it will fix the problem i will buy a new processor and maybe more ram just to do me until christmas and i can get a new laptop.
Update:@Robert yeah i tryed disabling the hardware acceleration and it didnt make a difference :( ...i will try some of the cleaning software but i recently rebooted the laptop which deleted all the software and i reinstalled windows and that made no difference at all.
@CanadaRAM Ahh okay looks like ill be waiting until i get a new laptop :P Thanks for the links aswell i found the ram for the laptop i have :D

Here are tips on making a machine run faster

You will not be able to upgrade the processor in the laptop

Installing more RAM will help especially when multitasking. Check http://www.kingston.com/ or http://www.crucial.com/ for the RAM specs for this model
The keyboard and trackpad problems sound like physical connections problems internally, or the aftereffects of a liquid spill. Take the machine apart carefully, redo all of the connections, clean with alcohol if you see corrosion or residue.
You shouldn't really have a problem with youtube videos. Try right clicking the video, going to settings and taking a check out of the box that reads "Enable hardware acceleration".
More RAM will help performance depending on how much you have now. However, your machine is 5-6 years old and you may find it difficult or expensive to find RAM for it.
Also, run a maintenance program such as CCleaner. http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
It's free and can really help with performance issues if clutter is the main problem.
Run a clean up and a registry clean but make sure you take a backup as instructed first.
Good luck!
