When I turned my laptop on today it took almost 10 minutes to turn on. The first time I had to turn it off by holding down the power button cause it wouldn't load past the loading screen. the second time it did the same thing. This time it loaded but it took like 10 minutes. What's wrong with it? How do I fix it? It's a Sony Vaio with Windows 7 btw

As it's windows 7, it's not such an old computer. There must be something wrong. The solution can take some time.
Do this:
-make sure your anti-virus is updated and run a complete scan
-defragment the C disk (do this at night, it can take many hours)
-download and install TweakPowerPack from www.tweaknow.com and do the following:
-registry cleaner, at least 2 times
-registry defragmenter
-use the startup manager and unclick all programs which are not windows system, antivirus. Leave only the essentials
-uninstall all programs you never use
have you ever checked the form log? there may be a clue in there. bypass to regulate panel--->administrative procedures--->experience viewer . verify each and all the a number of types for timestamps for the period of your prolonged boot up. additionally use job supervisor to view all procedures. See if there's a rogue technique and verify which one has used the main CPU time. Google any technique which looks suspicious. See if there are any comments on the information superhighway for any unknown technique. i've got had hassle with the Rtvscan ability of symantec AV. It boots, however the Rtvscan makes use of only approximately each and all the CPU whilst it does the boot time test, that i eventually disabled it in the symantec administration panel
The older a computer gets, the slower it gets, the more stuff you add the computer like files/documents/pictures/music/movies etc.. etc... the longer it will take to load all of that stuff... it also depends on your computer specs and how fast your hard drive is....
Just erase old games movies and pictures you don't need or use anymore should make a 5 mins faster
possible that the hardrive is damaged or full. maybe start by making a backup of your current work(s).
check for any events in the "event viewer" (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Open-E... and have a look on the available space on the hdd where your system is.
look for alerts in your antivirus-software too.
