I have a mulching lawn mower. When I go to mow the lawn, I start it up, get going, ect... So as am moving the grass will accumulate in the bottom where the blade is spinning. Every once in a while the grass will accumulate to the point where the blade no longer has enough power and the mower will shut down. Only until after I scoop the grass out will it start again. How can i prevent this? Also, I do not want to use lawn bags and it is not because the grass is too high.
Thanks, Zach

It sounds like the grass is wet. Try waiting until later in the day to mow. A little trick that I've learned is to spray non-stick cooking spray to the undercarriage of the mower deck ( not the blades ). Try it.
Sounds like you may be mowing grass that is too moist or perhaps your mower needs to be set higher to give the grass room to mulch. Cleaning the underside of the deck and painting with a high gloss paint might possibly help, and of course you would want to always have a sharp blade. It could be that the lawn needs to be dethatched so the newly mulched grass has a place to go.
Wish I had an easy solution for you...
I would think something is wrong with your mulching unit but you are going to have to talk with the manufacturer. This is not normal for a mulching mower. You dont think the grass is too high but you should be mowing frequently enough so you are only removing a quarter to one half inch of grass at a time. Try setting your blade up a notch or two and see if the problem is solved.
