I use MAC mascara, its the purple and pink one. It has 2 parts/2 steps to it, the bigger brush for putting the product on and the thinner brush that takes away clumps and lengthens your lashes. I hope this helps! If not try a de- clumper comb.

It sounds like you may be using an waterproof mascara as they can have a glossy effect.

Try purchasing a mascara that doesn't have many fibres in as they build up as you apply to the lashes.

To prevent the clumps, using a brush and comb (http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/make-up/brushes-and-t... example - comb the lashes and then using a lash curler, curl the lashes (http://birchbox.co.uk/birchbox-eyelash-curler?gcli... ; half of your job done already before you apply the mascara.

Alternatively you could use a mascara with a thin wand so the layers don't stick, maybe one of these below?

Maybelline Full 'N Soft Waterproof Mascara is exactly what you're looking for. It gives you amazing length and volume, but makes them look very soft and natural. When I first used it, people thought my eyelashes were naturally that long because there was no clumps or chunky pieces in sight. I strongly recommend it :)

maybelline's great lash mascara is my favorite! and i have to agree some mascaras just making my eyelashes looks scary the way they become clumped together!

before you put your mascara on try putting a little bit of vaseline to smooth out your eyelashes or as a suggestion i personally love physicians formula mascara, i never had a clumpy looking result also remember to replace your mascara every 6 months ♥
