I am 19 and my girlfriend is 17, she is 8 months pregnant and has been living with me for the past three weeks with permission from her guardians, the situation is that her parents are deceased and her sister previously had guardianship of her, but didnt want her anymore so signed away guardianship to her current guardians who were friends from church. Well, her current guardians have three foster care kids on top of their two actual kids and they are all young which has really been hard on my girlfriend i.e getting jumped on all the time and woken up at odd hours, so her guardians agreed that it would be in her best interest if she comes and stay with me at my grandparents house until i save up enough so we can move out on our own. Her guardians then recently have been scared because they don't want to get in trouble letting her live with me when they are her legal guardians and they want to do things the right legal way and get her emancipated..they believe that it will be a fast easy process as all parties are agreeing to it and view it as in her best interest.. I was just wanting some outside take on the situation to get me a better idea on what we are in for..

They are her legal guardians, and have full legal rights.
Would it not just be easier all around to sign for her getting married?? Emancipation requires her being fully capable of self support, NOT living with or depending on anyone else.. and clearly, this is not the situation.
She does not qualify. If you just get married, there is nothing to get in trouble for.
And, it would be in best interests of the baby.
none of you realize what it means to be emancipated......
1. her being pregnant pretty much automatically voids any chance of her getting emancipated
2. if emancipated, and thats a big IF...she wont be living with you, or anyone else for that matter. emancipation means you live on your own, with no help/support from anyone other than your own income.
no judge will emancipate a pregnant 17 year old. she has shown that she isn't a responsible person.
